Summer Secrets
       Welcome Loving Pet Parents

                                            Frequently Asked Questions

Do you really know what time it is?  It's time for the under coats to start coming
out.  Are you ready for this messy event now?  The undercoat of a dog can cost
you; both Time and Money if left untouched.

What is an undercoat on a dog?  Think of the undercoat as a coat you wear,
or an extra layer of hair.  If this hair is not brushed out frequently, sometimes
every  other day. This can lead to a shave down, since the hair can matt close
    to the skin.

Learn the Medical Dangers of a Matted Dog!

   * Hidden Skin Infections that cannot be seen under all the hair.

   * Razor Burns when matts are close to the skin causing the clippers to excessively              heat up.

   * Possible Cuts and or nicks from scissors and razors, especially if dog suddenly
     moves while being shaved.

   * Extra charge for extra clipper blades sharpened, not being able to use blades again.
$10.00 charge for each blade sharpened.

Depending on the type hair, this hair can matt or knot up very easily without
you even knowing it.  By then it will more than likely be too late to easily fix.

Possible Cuts and or nicks from scissors and razor, especially if dog suddenly moves         while being shaved.  Sometimes unavoidable.

What Can You Do To Resolve This Issue Before It Happens.

You can either purchase a dematting comb and brush your dog out yourself.
Your other choice would be to have your dog Furminated, or brushed out,
    shampooed, and excess blown out.

Depending on the thickness of your dog's hair depends on the number
of times this will need to be done.  Sometimes you can get by with two to three
Furminator treatments.  Just remember the excess hair did not appear overnight.
Therefore it will not disappear overnight either.

Another Determining Factor In Eliminating Or Getting Rid Of Matts

Did you know that about 90% of Pet Parent's do not Own or know the proper
dog brush to use to brush their pets with.  The cheap and painful slicker brush
you purchase at Petsmart, Petco, and most of the other pet stores are just plain
cheap and Do Not serve their purpose.

I actually believe one of the corporations made these brushes. So you would have
to bring your dog into their grooming salon since they will get matted after using
    their so called brush.

Can you groom older dogs?  Yes, as long as their health conditions allow.

How often should I have my dog bathed? This depends on you and your dog’s
   lifestyle;

  * The lighter the hair the quicker they can get dirty.
  * The longer the hair the quicker it can tangle and matt.
  * If your dog goes outside and tend to get into things; brush, trash, etc.
  * Your dog is very active and likes to roll around a lot.

It’s not the frequency of the bath’s that’s important. The proper shampoo, the
age and condition of the dog is what really matters. The normal ph level of the
  dog’s skin is between 6.2 - 7.2

Ivory liquid dish washing detergent ph level is 9- 9.5 meaning this being too
harsh of cleaning agent to wash your dog's hair and skin with.

This will strip the natural oils from the dog’s coat leaving both the hair as well
as the skin dry and dull. Even some of the name brands of pet shampoos have
too high ph levels. Most all brands do not list on the label you can call the
  company to ask them.
